Evan Brown (he/him) is a sound designer and theatre technician for musical theatre and live events. He is currently the head of sound at the Segal Centre for Performing Arts in Montreal.
He has worked as a freelance sound designer and technician in both the Montreal and Greater Toronto areas. He worked as a BlackTrax product specialist for three years, where he consulted, installed systems, and trained technicians for large-scale and touring productions in countries including the U.S., England, Japan, and Australia.
Evan has a degree in Technical Production for Theatre and Live Events from Sheridan College, where he specialized in sound and lighting. During his time at Sheridan, he assisted Alan Poaps on Canadian Musical Theatre Project recordings, and completed a field placement in the Shaw Festival's audio department.
He also has a DEC in Professional Music and Song Techniques, and completed two years of Jazz Performance at McGill University. His music background helps to inform his sound designs.
Evan has experience working in both English and French. He is certified for Working at Heights; Aerial Lifts and Platform Training; Emergency First Aid, AED, and CPR; and WHMIS 2015.
